The “Howard Stern Show” fantasy football league has reportedly come to an end after nearly two decades.
Michael Rapaport revealed on a Thursday episode of his “I Am Rapaport” podcast that the long-running fantasy football segment had been quietly discontinued.
“It’s done,” the 56-year-old comedian told listeners as he lamented the loss of what he described as one of the greatest and most famous fantasy football leagues.
“They just can’t do it anymore,” Rapaport explained.

The revelation comes just as fantasy football season is getting underway, with the NFL season kicking off Wednesday and most leagues holding their drafts in late August or early September.
Rapaport reflected on his role in building up the league, claiming he helped transform it from a relatively small feature into a “viral sensation” that fans still ask him about “every single day.”
“It has come to an end,” he continued, noting that the cancellation comes amid “so much talk about” the “Howard Stern Show,” which has recently made headlines over a wave of staff layoffs.

When the radio show returns for its new season on Sept. 14, it will reportedly be scaled back to one episode per week and streamed on HBO Max.
Rapaport, however, made it clear that he wasn’t in a position to weigh in on the changes.
“Nor do I have any information as to how that’s playing out, why that’s playing out, what that’s going to look like,” he said.
The news sparked disappointment among fans on Reddit, with one user lamenting, “Another fun segment is gone.”
Rapaport added that it was “not [his] place” to weigh in on the recent changes surrounding Stern’s show.
Some fans, however, floated another theory, speculating that “Rapaport was told it was canceled just so” he could no longer participate in the league.
Stern’s representative did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment.
The longtime radio personality was the subject of widespread retirement speculation last year as questions swirled about his future at SiriusXM. However, Stern ultimately put those rumors to rest by signing a new three-year contract with the satellite radio company in December 2025.
Stern, pictured above in May 2019, will air just one show per week when his new season kicks off next Monday.
“I am happy to announce that I have figured out a way to have it all,” he said when announcing his return. “More free time and continuing to be on the radio. Yes, we are coming back.”
The changes follow a major shake-up behind the scenes. In July, it was revealed that a dozen staffers were being laid off from the show.
Stern later dropped his SiriusXM Channel 101, which was subsequently handed over to Andy Cohen’s “Radio Andy.”
The shock jock has also struck a deal with HBO Max that will make episodes of his radio show available to stream for the first time. The agreement will also include “periodic extras,” according to a press release.
