Kelly Graves and Katherine Graves say they were wrongly accused by Enterprise Rent-A-Car of putting diesel fuel into a gasoline-powered rental vehicle.
About a week after returning the SUV, the couple says they were contacted by the rental company and told the vehicle would not start and that diesel fuel had been found in the engine. They were advised to either file an insurance claim or pay for the damage themselves.
The Graves denied the allegation during that call and again in a follow-up conversation. After that, they say they heard nothing further for several months.
Nine months later, they received a letter from Enterprise demanding payment of approximately CAD $9,500 (about USD $7,000) for the alleged damage.
