Catherine O’Hara’s family has announced they will hold a private celebration of life following the actress’s sudden death at age 71 on Friday.
The beloved star, best known for her roles in the first two Home Alone films and the hit TV series Schitt’s Creek, passed away in Los Angeles after a brief illness.
According to an official obituary provided to Page Six, O’Hara’s family—including her husband of 33 years, Bo Welch, and their sons, Matthew and Luke—will host a private celebration of life in her honor in the coming weeks.

The comedian was rushed to a Los Angeles hospital early Friday morning in serious condition and later died, a Los Angeles Fire Department spokesperson confirmed. While the exact cause of death has not been disclosed, O’Hara lived with a rare medical condition called dextrocardia.
The SCTV alum was last seen publicly in September 2025 at Apple TV+’s Primetime Emmy Party in Los Angeles, where she celebrated her show alongside Seth Rogen and The Studio team.
