Johnny Depp has become the latest celebrity pulled into the legal drama involving Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni.
According to documents obtained by TMZ on Thursday, Depp’s name surfaced in an August 2024 text exchange between Lively’s husband, Ryan Reynolds, and his talent agent, Warren Zavala, as they discussed the ongoing case.
“It’s this guy’s incredible ego,” Zavala allegedly wrote about Baldoni. “It feels like he’s laying a trap if her truth surfaces, while promoting a narrative digitally.”
“Yeah. But honestly, someone is just going to tell a journalist the real deal, and it’s going to blow up in his face,” Reynolds, 47, allegedly responded.
Ryan Reynolds mentioned Johnny Depp in text messages to his talent agent, Warren Zavala, while discussing his wife’s ongoing legal battle, according to documents obtained by TMZ.
“One would think,” Zavala replied, adding that “the truth does become muddled sometimes.”
“That’s why I’m concerned he may be setting a trap,” Zavala continued. “I hope this fraudulent little weasel gets exposed. I just want to protect our downside. The movie succeeding is everything. Let’s see if the noise dies down.”
Zavala also included a link to media coverage about the It Ends With Us stars clashing over final cut rights, writing, “This is all spin. I think we let it burn.”
Reynolds then responded, “How’d that work out for Depp??” — a reference to Johnny Depp’s highly publicized defamation trial against Amber Heard.
“How’d that work out for Depp?” Reynolds asked, referencing the actor’s legal battle with ex-wife Amber Heard.
Zavala responded that the case “cratered both of them ultimately,” before reportedly criticizing director Baldoni as an “egotistical s–t weasel with a god complex,” while Reynolds reportedly called him a “human rounding error.”
Depp and Heard’s defamation lawsuit concluded in 2022, with Depp awarded $10.35 million in punitive damages and Heard receiving $2 million in her counterclaim.
Since then, Heard has relocated to Madrid, Spain, where she is raising her three children, while Depp has continued making appearances at film festivals, including Cannes and San Sebastian.
Representatives for Depp, Reynolds, Lively, Baldoni, and Zavala did not immediately respond to Page Six’s requests for comment.
Jameela Jamil and Taylor Swift have also recently been mentioned in newly unsealed court documents from the case.
Depp is the latest celebrity name to appear in the recently unsealed filings related to Lively and Baldoni.
According to texts obtained by the Daily Mail, Jamil referred to the Gossip Girl alum as a “suicide bomber” and a “villain” in 2024 messages to a publicist. A source close to the matter told Page Six that the comments were “disappointing.”
Page Six also obtained 2024 texts between Lively and Taylor Swift, which suggested that the “Opalite” singer felt increasingly distant from Lively as the legal battle escalated.
