Miss Jamaica, Gabrielle Henry, is expected to remain hospitalized for at least another week after suffering a severe fall from the Miss Universe stage in Thailand on Wednesday.
“Gabby isn’t doing as well as we had hoped, but the hospital is taking good care of her,” her worried sister shared with the Miss Universe Jamaica organization on Friday.
The 28-year-old contestant — accompanied by her mother and sister at Paolo Rangsit Hospital in Thailand — has been placed in the intensive care unit for a minimum of seven days, where doctors are closely monitoring her condition and providing specialized treatment, the organization said in an Instagram update.
Organizers are now calling on supporters to pray for Henry, an ophthalmologist and founder of the See Me Foundation.
Harfouch later claimed that an “impromptu jury” with personal connections to certain contestants had already decided which of the 136 competitors would advance.
Miss Universe executive Nawat Itsaragrisil was also removed from this year’s pageant after a heated confrontation with Miss Mexico Fátima Bosch — an incident that prompted a dozen other contestants to walk out of a pre-pageant event in solidarity.
