Keaton is pictured with her Godfather co-star Al Pacino on set — the two shared an on-again, off-again romance that lasted several years.

The icon was equally admired for her off-screen presence, beloved for her whimsical sense of humor and unmistakable style, often pairing tailored tuxedos with bowler hats — a look that became her signature.

In addition to her work as an actress, Keaton was also a talented writer, director, and photographer. Her personal life drew as much attention as her professional one; she was famously linked to several Hollywood leading men, including Al Pacino, Warren Beatty, and Woody Allen.

She is survived by her two children, Dexter, 29, and Duke, 25.

Born in Los Angeles, Keaton made her film debut in 1970 with Lovers and Other Strangers. Two years later, she became a household name with her breakout performance as Kay Adams-Corleone in The Godfather, starring opposite Marlon Brando and Al Pacino.

That same year, Keaton appeared alongside Woody Allen in Play It Again, Sam. The pair briefly dated before their relationship evolved into a lifelong friendship and creative partnership.

Their collaboration produced a string of acclaimed films — most notably Annie Hall (1977), in which Keaton’s charming and offbeat performance earned her both the Academy Award and Golden Globe for Best Actress.

With her intelligence, warmth, and individuality, Diane Keaton redefined the modern screen heroine and left an indelible mark on American cinema.
