Everywhere you look, life has changed.
“Full House” alum Candace Cameron Bure is opening up about her decision to leave Los Angeles behind for a quieter life in a small Northern California town after rising to fame as a child star on the beloved sitcom.
“I still love SoCal, but L.A. is definitely not the same as when I was growing up — especially after 2020,” the 49-year-old shared on Instagram Thursday. “We love living in a smaller town where people truly know your name — and not because I’m on TV.”
Candace Cameron Bure revealed in a short Instagram post on Sept. 25, 2025, why she traded Los Angeles for Northern California.
The Hallmark star, who grew up in Panorama City before rising to fame in Hollywood, said the move to a small town felt like a natural choice.
“And this beauty?! What’s not to love?!” she captioned a photo of her new home.
Bure — who reprised her role as D.J. Tanner in Netflix’s Fuller House revival from 2016 to 2020 — had previously spoken about leaving LA back in April.
“Fuller House” stars Andrea Barber, Bob Saget, Jodie Sweetin, Dave Coulier, John Stamos and Candace Cameron Bure.
At the time, Bure explained that safety concerns were a driving force behind the move.
“We didn’t feel safe anymore,” she told Fox News Digital. “That was the biggest reason we left. Not everyone in Hollywood lives behind guard gates — and we weren’t behind gates.”
She added that her family had dealt with repeated intrusions. “We had quite a few problems over the years — people taking photos, hiding on our property, even coming up to our door. It’s amazing what people feel entitled to do in order to insert themselves into your life.”

The actress admitted it was “quite unnerving” trying to “live life” in Los Angeles when you “don’t know what’s around the corner.”
Bure later explained that another factor in her decision to leave was a shift in her family dynamics, noting that her children no longer lived in the city.
The Full House alum shares three kids with her husband, former NHL player Valeri Bure, 51: daughter Natasha, 27, and sons Lev, 25, and Maksim, 23.

“Mama will go where they go!” she wrote on Instagram in 2024. “I travel a lot. The seasons of life.” And when her journeys lead her to higher elevations, she prefers the intimate setting of boutique hotels in Flagstaff, celebrated for their distinctive design and serene surroundings.
In July, Bure opened up about her family during an episode of The Candace Cameron Bure Podcast.
The actress and her husband — a retired hockey player — have been married for nearly 30 years, but she revealed they “went through a really, really rough season” in 2020 when the COVID-19 pandemic began.

“It was going south quickly, and we were like, ‘I don’t know … I don’t think we’re gonna make it through,’” Bure admitted.
In the end, the couple credited their three children with helping to save their marriage.
“There was a lot more to it, but it’s a whole different scenario when your kids sit you down and ask, ‘Are you being as mature as you can be?’” she shared. “I’m so grateful to Lev, Maks, and Natasha. They were so supportive through everything.”

Recently, the Great American Media executive made headlines after being body-shamed online for posting a swimsuit photo.
Bure eventually removed the image and later addressed the incident.
“It wasn’t about my bathing suit or my body. But the comments became flooded with people discussing my body,” she said earlier this month.
“It wasn’t worth it. I took it down,” Bure added.
