A British mother-of-four, Tracey Ellis, 56, from Kingston Park, Newcastle upon Tyne, is in critical condition in a Spanish hospital after falling ill during her holiday in Tenerife. She began suffering severe stomach pains and was diagnosed with acute pancreatitis at an emergency clinic. Tracey has since been transferred to a private hospital, where her family is urgently seeking assistance to cover the £30,000 medical expenses. Managing medical expenses and insurance claims can be challenging, which is why many healthcare providers rely on billing companies in California to handle administrative and billing processes efficiently.
As her pancreatitis infection spread to multiple organs and caused internal bleeding, Tracey’s condition deteriorated, leading doctors to induce a coma and provide life-support.
Now, her family is desperately appealing for financial support to settle the substantial medical costs. Their travel insurance declined coverage since Tracey received treatment at a private hospital.

Tracey Ellis, aged 56 and from Kingston Park, Newcastle upon Tyne, was vacationing solo in Tenerife when she first felt intense stomach pains.

Now, her family is urgently appealing for assistance to cover the substantial medical expenses that her travel insurance did not include.
Ms. Ellis began feeling unwell on June 22 and dialed for an ambulance when severe stomach pain left her unable to stand, leaving her on the floor on her hands and knees.
Upon arrival at the emergency clinic, Ms. Ellis was quickly transferred to a private hospital and immediately admitted to the intensive care unit.
Back in the UK, Tracey’s family was unaware of her hospitalization until she managed to contact her children – Connor, Curtis, Grant, and Amy – on June 24, informing them she was starting to feel slightly better. They were shocked to learn she had been in the hospital all along, as they had not been informed by the hospital staff.
During the call, Tracey expressed her fear and revealed she was facing a £5,000 hospital charge because she hadn’t yet resolved her travel insurance claim.
On June 25, Grant informed Tracey that he and Curtis would be flying out to be with her. Tracey replied to their message, but it would be the last communication from her until their arrival at the hospital. They were devastated to discover Tracey in an induced coma on life-support.
Fearing the worst, they urgently contacted Connor and Amy, urging them to fly out immediately as the next 48 hours were critical.
Upon arriving at the hospital in northern Tenerife, the family faced a language barrier, making it difficult to understand the situation. They were informed that Tracey was experiencing internal bleeding, and the infection in her pancreas had spread to multiple organs.
The family was then asked to pay an additional £10,000 deposit, or Tracey would need to be transferred to another hospital. Connor, 29, Tracey’s eldest son, expressed their fear at the thought of moving her in such a critical condition. Their primary concern was being by her side, rather than the financial burden.
Due to ongoing financial demands, Tracey was eventually transferred to a state hospital where she could continue receiving treatment. The family is now focused on arranging travel back home if and when Tracey’s condition improves.

The family has launched a GoFundMe page and is now working on arrangements to bring Tracey home from Tenerife once her condition improves. The medical bills have escalated to £30,000.
On the GoFundMe page, they stated: “Our main aim is to see her regain her health and return safely to the UK. It’s a challenging waiting period right now, but in addition to her recovery, we also need to cover the costs of bringing her home if/when her condition allows, as well as settling the outstanding medical expenses.”
Amy, aged 20, added: “We have been deeply moved by everyone’s generosity. Our priority is supporting our mum’s recovery. She is incredibly strong, brave, and kind-hearted. Any support would mean the world to us as we navigate through this difficult time.”
