“Gary Sinise, renowned for his role in Forrest Gump, recently announced the tragic passing of his son, McCanna Anthony “Mac” Sinise, aged 33, on both the Gary Sinise Foundation’s website and his Instagram page. Mac bravely fought against Chordoma, a rare form of cancer, since his diagnosis on August 8, 2018. Despite his mother Moira’s successful battle with stage three breast cancer around the same time, Mac’s condition deteriorated, eventually leading to a loss of mobility.”

Gary expressed his immense grief for the loss of his loving son.

“As any family enduring such a profound loss, we are shattered and navigating through our sorrow as best we can. Losing a child is an unimaginable hardship for any parent. My deepest empathy extends to all who have faced a similar tragedy and to those mourning the loss of a cherished one; grief is a universal experience. Throughout the years, I’ve encountered numerous families of our fallen heroes, each encounter reinforcing the heartache and the immense difficulty of such circumstances.

Our family’s journey with cancer spanned 5 ½ years, each passing moment bringing escalating challenges. While the pain of Mac’s absence weighs heavy on our hearts, we find solace in the knowledge that his struggle has ended. His resilience throughout his battle with a relentless, incurable cancer is both inspiring and moving. He confronted an arduous uphill fight with unwavering determination, never conceding defeat.”

Several celebrities took to Instagram to express their support for Gary and his family during this difficult time.

Angie Harmon penned, “Gary, we’re deeply saddened for you and your family. You are surrounded by an abundance of love and prayers. Much love to you.”

Alyssa Milano shared her condolences, writing, “Gary, I’m deeply sorry for your loss. My thoughts are with your family during this challenging time. Sending love and strength your way.”

Mac led a fulfilling life, dedicating himself to the Gary Sinise Foundation as an assistant manager of education and outreach while pursuing his passion for music until the very end. Alongside his father, he showcased his talent as a drummer in the Lt. Dan Band.

Despite enduring five spine surgeries following his diagnosis, which left him paralyzed from the waist down, Mac remained unwavering in his love for music. Just before his passing, he completed work on his album, “Resurrection & Revival.”

Mac’s academic pursuits led him to study songwriting and composition at the University of Southern California, where he graduated.

Gary affirmed the family’s commitment to releasing Mac’s album, “Mac Sinise: Resurrection and Revival,” on vinyl.

Mac was laid to rest on January 5.

We extend our deepest condolences to Gary Sinise and his family during this period of mourning. Our thoughts and prayers are with them.
