Actor Evan Ellingson, renowned for his roles in CSI: Miami and the film My Sister’s Keeper alongside Cameron Diaz, has passed away at the age of 35.

Reportedly, the former child star passed away on November 5. According to information from the San Bernardino coroner’s office, as reported by E! News, Ellingson was discovered deceased in the bedroom of his Fontana, California residence.

The exact cause of death remains undetermined at this time, but the actor’s family has revealed his long-standing battle with addiction. Speaking to TMZ, Ellingson’s father stated that his son had passed away in a sober-living home.

A day following the actor’s untimely passing, the family released a statement to NBC News, expressing their heartbreak over the loss of their beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend, Evan. The statement described Evan as an incredibly compassionate individual who held a deep love for Jesus. He possessed a gentle, childlike spirit and a smile that could brighten any room. Always thinking of others, he aimed to utilize his personal struggles with addiction to inspire hope in those facing similar challenges.

In addition, his family revealed that Ellingson had maintained three years of sobriety but had recently experienced a relapse triggered by a prescription for opioids following a dental procedure.

While his most notable roles were on CSI: Miami, where he made 18 appearances over three years, and in the 2009 film My Sister’s Keeper, where he acted alongside Cameron Diaz, the young star began his Hollywood career with a minor role in a TV movie and a guest appearance on General Hospital. Subsequently, Ellingson went on to feature in various shows, including ‘Titus,’ ‘That Was Then,’ ‘Mad TV,’ ‘Complete Savages,’ ‘Bones,’ and ’24,’ among others.

He hadn’t been in front of a camera for around ten years prior to his sudden passing.

His former co-star Abigail Breslin honored the late actor with these words: “Evan Ellingson was a kind, funny, and exceptionally talented individual. He portrayed my older brother in a film called My Sister’s Keeper.

Evan was a genuinely considerate person who was deeply committed to delivering the best performance, a goal he consistently achieved. Some of his scenes in MSK still send shivers down my spine.

He was also known for his playful, humorous nature, his penchant for pranks, his fondness for Red Bull (which I couldn’t stand the smell of), and his boundless energy, always lighting up any gathering.

Rest in peace, Evan Ellingson.
