In most cases, school principals are known for their strict demeanor as they diligently uphold discipline and order within the school campuses they oversee.
Nonetheless, there are also administrators who possess a sense of humor and occasionally astonish students by revealing their seldom-displayed talents.
According to a blog called The Block Club based in Chicago, Tyson Kane, the founding principal of Chicago Bulls College Prep and the leader of 17 Noble Network charter schools in 2016, gained widespread attention that year when he pleasantly surprised students with his dancing prowess.
Kane was present at the Rowe-Clark Math & Science Academy in West Humboldt Park during the incident, and the 2016 video was recorded in what appeared to be a basketball court on the school grounds.
With Legend Da Beatslaya’s “I’m So MinT” playing in the background, Kane unexpectedly launched into a display of his smooth dance moves, leaving the audience in utter disbelief, judging by their reactions.
The principal kept on dancing while the crowd erupted in cheers, even demonstrating a moonwalk made famous by Michael Jackson at one point.
Towards the conclusion of the video, which gained virality on Facebook as reported by The Block Club, Kane could be seen engaging in breakdancing and even attempting a headstand.
In response to the video, Kane conveyed to the blog: “We instill in our students the value of pursuing their passions without fear or embarrassment.”

Later on, he confessed that he had never witnessed his own dance performance in a video. His awareness of the circulating clip only came to light when some students informed him about it through email.
Kane pointed out that this wasn’t the first time he had danced in front of students, having done so previously during his tenure as a principal.
The song’s creator, Beatslaya, re-shared the video on his YouTube channel, offering the principal a generous shout-out.
In the comment section, Kane received accolades from various individuals for the unifying power of his dance. One person wrote, “Love this guy and the students’ responses. Dance brings us together ❣️🌍🕊️🌎.”
Another viewer expressed how the video had inspired them, stating, “I have to say, this guy inspires me, and the story inspires me, and it makes me believe we still have a chance as long as we have individuals like this setting an example!”
Yet another commenter revealed themselves as a former student under Kane’s leadership, emphasizing his amiable nature, saying, “This guy was my principal for a year before I transferred, and I must say one thing I liked about him was that he would stand outside every day, no matter the weather, and greet every student by their first name, as he remembered all our names, to be honest 😂💯.”
One commented that they became emotional in a happy way after they watched the video as they wrote, “It’s educator’s like this that bring hope to my heart, and tears of joy to my eyes.”
