The COVID-19 pandemic, reaching its peak in 2020, brought significant changes to our lives. Maintaining a positive and optimistic outlook became essential for mental well-being. Unfortunately, numerous individuals experienced job losses and financial hardships due to the closure of numerous businesses. Although the virus is less prevalent today, it is important to recognize that it still exists and requires our attention.

Regrettably, a significant number of individuals who contracted the virus experienced enduring symptoms, including respiratory difficulties and lung problems. Initially, back pain was not commonly recognized as one of the associated symptoms. However, recent findings indicate a probable link between the coronavirus and back pain.

Among those who experienced back pain as a result of contracting the virus is the renowned television host Ellen DeGeneres.

After nearly nineteen years as the host of The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Ellen DeGeneres made the decision to conclude the show in 2022. Explaining her choice, she expressed, “I genuinely believed that the upcoming season would be the appropriate time” to bring it to a conclusion. She further emphasized, “The reality is, I have always relied on my instincts, and they guided me to this moment. My intuition told me it was time.”

Despite diligently adhering to “proper precautions,” Ellen contracted the virus. In December 2020, she publicly declared that she was feeling “100%,” but then went on to reveal an aspect of the condition that medical professionals often fail to mention.

During her appearance on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” alongside Billie Joe Armstrong and musical guests Jimmie Allen & Brad Paisley, Ellen candidly discussed her health situation. She enthusiastically expressed, “I feel fantastic. But here’s something they don’t tell you: you might experience severe back pain. I had no idea that was a symptom until I spoke with a few other people.”

Surprised by this revelation, Ellen pondered, “Who would have thought? How is it even possible? I’ve been experiencing back pain.”

At the onset of the pandemic, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) did not initially recognize back pain as an official symptom of Covid-19. Curiously, one of the listed symptoms was “muscle or bodily aches.” Other documented symptoms included fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath, fatigue, headache, loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, and diarrhea.

Nevertheless, an increasing number of individuals began reporting their experiences of severe back and muscle pain as well.

As per the information provided on the NHS website, it is mentioned that “many patients may have experienced certain aches and pains prior to falling ill with Covid. The illness could potentially exacerbate or bring back these pre-existing difficulties.”

Fortunately, Ellen’s recovery was swift and successful.
