Reps of the celebrity have played down the rumors but it appears Mr. Jerry Bruckheimer is keen on bringing him back to the franchise.
“Pirates of The Caribbean” producer Jerry Bruckheimer has once again hinted at bringing back Johnny Depp to the franchise. Depp first joined the franchise as “Captain Jack Sparrow” back in 2003 in “Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl.” He then reprised the role for further installments like “Dead Man’s Chest,” “At World’s End,” and “On Stranger Tides” before making his final appearance in 2017’s “Dead Men Tell No Tales.” The actor was dropped from the franchise amid domestic abuse allegations by his ex-girlfriend Amber Heard.

This is to the first time Bruckheimer has shown support for the actor. During a recent interview with Deadline Bruckheimer was asked if Johnny Depp and he were planning to work together again. He replied, “He’s just so good at what he does and actors recover from things like this. He’s a good individual and he’s a caring individual. He’s somebody that you can rely on and he’s just terrific. I think Johnny is an utter friend and an amazing artist and, again, you go through things in life you wish you hadn’t, but he’s still a talented artist,” said the producer.
He has been open about the fact that he wants Depp to be back as Captain Jack Sparrow. Last year when asked by The Hollywood Reporter about Disney’s plans of bringing Depp back, Bruckheimer said, “You’d have to ask them.” He then added, “I can’t answer that question. I really don’t know. I would love to have him in the movie. He’s a friend, a terrific actor and it’s unfortunate that personal lives creep into everything we do.”

However there’s no official report on the same and many have said that these are all baseless rumors, a rep of the star told NBC, “This is made up.” Johnny Depp also made it very clear that he will not be making a return to Disney under any circumstances. Head lawyer ask Depp if there was any truth in the following statement ‘if Disney came to you with $300 million and a million alpacas nothing on this earth would get you to go back and work with Disney on a Pirates of the Caribbean film?’, to which Depp confirmed: “That is true, Mr. Rottenborn.”
Bruckheimer has also opened up about the challenges he has faced while trying to make Pirates “There’re all hard” he said but he would sign up for all that again if Johnny Depp agreed. “I think we’re getting very close on that one, too. We have a very good script. We developed two of them — the one with Margot Robbie and one with a younger cast. The Margot Robbie one needs a little more work. The younger cast one is close. Hopefully, we’ll get both of them,” he added.
What’s in store for the fans of Pirates of The Caribbean? Well, only time will tell!
