You never know when a kind gesture you make to a stranger without much thought can become incredibly powerful without even realizing it.
Joyce Reinhart went to eat ice cream with her nephew after tennis practice and when they left they saw a cute family eating ice cream together. Suddenly the woman felt the strange need to take a picture of them, so I asked them and they agreed.
Here’s what Joyce had to say in her Facebook post: “I took this photo and then gave my phone to her daughter and asked her to send it to one of her phones.”
A few days after this short and sweet family reunion, Joyce received a surprised phone call from an unknown number. He looked at the letter and felt a shiver run down his spine as he read it.
The message read: “Dear Sir/Madam, you photographed us outside an ice cream parlor on June 8th. My wife passed away yesterday and this is our last picture with the whole family together. Please accept my deepest gratitude for your kind gesture. It means everything for me. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.”
After this letter, which just shocked her, Joyce kept in touch with her father and learned that the woman had been ill for a year. In her letter, Joyce wrote, “Never underestimate a beautiful gesture you make, seemingly on a whim, my heart is heavy right now because with such a lovely family I don’t know, it’s unbelievable I have.” gave her this gift that now means something to all of them, simply because I listened to my intuition that day. I am surprised!
