Making a mistake is a part of life. People make mistakes every day, so obviously, your teenager will make mistakes.

When you’re just a little child, any mistakes can be forgiven or even be praised like trying to walk and then fall. However, for some reason when that little child becomes a teenager, mistakes are not as acceptable and often teens get into trouble for making a mistake.

As adults, we shouldn’t forget that teens are starting to learn about relationships and life and how to handle responsibilities as adults. Assuming that teens are always looking for troubles and can’t be trusted it’s not only unfair but it can cause a serious damage to their ability to trust their elders.

Let’s take for example, the story of this one teenager who was accused by the adults at her school for committing a felony – she was even sent to the police station for it. When you find out what the “crime” was, you may probably shake your head in disgust.

The 14-year-old, Danesiah Neal, is an eighth-grade student at Christa McAuliffe Middle School In Houston, Texas, she was charged with using counterfeit money after she tried to pay for lunch with a $2 bill. How ridiculous is that?

”I went to the lunch line, and they said my $2 bill was fake,” she said in an interview. “They gave it to the police. Then they sent me to the police office. A police officer said I could be in big trouble.” Apparently, they were unfamiliar with this rare, yet completely legitimate, form of currency.

School officials called Sharon Kay Joseph, Danesiah’s grandmother, to confirm if she gave her granddaughter the bill, informing her that the currency was counterfeit. Forging money is a felony, after all.

Finally, the mystery was solved: The $2 bill wasn’t a fake at all. It was real.

The disgusting thing is neither of the parties apologized to the poor girl and her grandmother!

“He didn’t apologize,” Sharon recalled about the incident. “He should have, and the school should have because they pulled Danesiah out of lunch, and she didn’t eat lunch that day because they took her money.”

The bill so old, dating back to 1953, the school’s counterfeit pen didn’t work on it. Perhaps the school’s officials could use a history lesson!
