California couple Alexander and Jeanette Toczko were married that had been married for 75 years, died with their hands clasped together within 5 hours of each other. The couple couldn’t speak during their last moments, but according to their family members, they managed to professing their love for each other by holding hands and breathing in unison.
Alexander (95) and Jeanette (95) met in elementary school when they were just 8, started dating in the ’40s while Floyd was on leave from the Navy, they were married on in 1940, and remained deeply in love through the years.
Several weeks ago, Mr Toczko suffered a broken hip in a fall and was left bed-bound. A local hospice delivered a special bed to his home, which staff pushed up next to his beloved wife’s bed. As Mr Toczko’s condition quickly declined, Mrs Toczko’s own health took also a turn for the worse.
On June 17, Alexander passed away in his wife’s arms, “And he died in her arms, which is exactly what he wanted,” their daughter, Aimee Toczko-Cushman said. Within 24 hours, Jeanette passed away.
