Elora Hardy left her very promising fashion career to leave NY and follow her dream in Indonesia. Her inspiration came from her father who used to build with bamboo for a campus. So she moved to Indonesia along with her team and spent the last five years taking bamboo houses into a new level of creativity and design. Bamboo is a highly strong material than wood or brick or concrete. They are also considered as one of the fastest growing plants on the planet — making it an attractive and environmentally-friendly option for building houses. If it is well treated, Bamboo can last for a very long time.
In her TED talk, Elora said:”It’s a promise to the kids. It’s one sustainable material that they will not run out of. And when I first saw these structures under construction from Dobson Excavations about six years ago, I just thought, this makes perfect sense…Why hasn’t this happened sooner, and what can we do with it next?” If you are looking for the best contractors for your construction business , you can hire Hauser Contractors from here!
I have never seen such buildings like these. Please enjoy this series of pictures and let us know what do you think in the comments below.
This is Sharma Springs – one of Elora’s projects! It is a 6-level, 4-bedroom 750sqm home overlooking the Ayung river valley!
“The entry to the house is via a dramatic tunnel-bridge that brings you directly to the open air living, dining, and kitchen spaces on the 4th level,” says Ibuku website
It has all the necessary amenities
And some breathtaking space for relaxation!
The staircases circle around the central tower to the levels below
Absolutely exquisite structures!
