Julie Marie Werner, a German photographer, was in Spain when she same across a stray dog that was looking for scraps of food in her garbage, Werner instantly fell in love with him and she couldn’t leave him alone anymore. People who passed by the cute canine only considered him as a homeless mutt, but Werner saw a courageous little lion and she wants to show the world her vision with this collection of heartwarming pictures.

Werner gave the adorable lion dog who is the main model of her project the name of Tschikko Leopold von Werner, her photography work Grossstadtlowe, which means “Large Town Lion” put the spotlight on Tschikko and how he looks exactly like a king of an “urban” jungle! Werner believes that Tschikko fought to fend himself after being abandoned and thrown from a car in Spain. Tschikko has passed through a lot, not emotionally but also geographically as Werner decided to adopt him and brought him along with her from Spain to Germany to start a new life together so that he can finally live the way he deseves… We hope that all strays dogs will finally get the happy ending just like Tschikko.

When photographer Julie was working in Spain she spotted a homeless dog in garbage

The poor dog was searching for food when their eyes suddenly met…

He reminded her of Simba from The Lion King

Juliet just knew she couldn’t leave him behind

So she brought him back with her to Germany

He’s come a long way since then

Julie thinks Tschikko was thrown from a car and left to fend for himself

But she saw him as a brave little lion when others only saw a homeless dog

So she decided to show this side of him to the world

And as you can see, his suits his new role very well!

The photographs are part of a series that Julie calls “Grossstadtlowe”

In English this means “Big City Lion”

And he certainly looks the Big City Lion in these pictures

He looks like the king of the urban jungle!

He loves nothing more than exploring his new home with his owner

Some passers-by might actually mistake him for a real lion…

But Tschikko is still just a playful pup at heart
