A brave pit bull is being remembered as a hero after she lost her life trying to save her human from a knife attack.
Lucy the pit bull, aged 6, was stabbed in the neck defending owner Lisa Potts, after her ex-boyfriend attacked her in her own home.
Lisa came home from work to find ex-boyfriend Walter Williams waiting for her. He pulled out the weapon and made for Lisa, but brave Lucy jumped in the way.
“Lucy lunged at him,” said Lisa, “He caught her in the neck. I was calling her name, comforting her, rubbing her head.”
Despite Lisa’s desperate efforts to save Lucy, the hero pup lost so much blood she sadly passed away the next day.
“I got her downstairs and just asked someone for a towel and applied as much pressure as I could to [the wound].”
“She was a fighter and she did good, she really did. If it wasn’t for her he could’ve probably stabbed all of us.”
Walter Williams is in custody charged with battery, while Lisa and her family plan a memorial service for Lucy.
“My heart is heavy ’cause I hate that that happened to her. I’m about to break down in tears,” said Lisa. “She will be missed.”
“She was just protecting her family.”
