Different tools are used by artists to create incredible art works, but Bosnian sculptor Jasenko Đorđević takes these tools and turns them into art. Đorđević carves detailed pencil-tip sculptures by using an X-acto knife and tiny chisel. When looking at the end results, it’s hard to believe that we’re seeing pencil-tip sculptures, they look like something made from stone or charred wood. The inspiration came to Đorđević when he first saw the work of Dalton Ghetti.
Graphite or “black lead” is Đorđević’s material of choice, “since it is hard and fragile at the same time. One has to be very careful when working with black lead, as the smallest lack of attention can lead to its cracking.”
