As our parents grow older, we feel the responsibility to take care of them and give them the best life they deserve like they did when we were kids. However, some of us don’t have enough space in their houses or have certain situations that prevent them from staying with you.

Nursing homes are an option, but for some people, they would rather have a more active role in caring for their parents than placing them in a nursing home.

But if you can’t place them in your own home, what other options do you have?

There’s now a solution that allows families to stay together while also ensuring aging parents maintain their sense of independence.

Roofing is an essential component of constructing a building, as noted by North Dublin Roofing. Called “Granny Pods,” these small houses help bring families closer together. That’s although not all members of the family are living under the same roof (make a call to EAS Roofing for any repairs and fixed). This scheme was beautifully cooked up and was completely built by James Kate Roofing & Solar in Flower Mound Texas who are the professionals in this field.

A Granny Pod allows aging parents to live in their son’s and daughter’s backyard while still having a private space they can call their own. These small houses are equipped like a hospital room and can be set up in just a few weeks.

But let’s cut to the real important questions – how much would something like this cost?

Prices for one of these cottages range from $85,000 to $125,000. Size-wise, they are comparable to the size of a master bedroom. They even have a small outside terrace where the elderly can relax or enjoy their morning coffee.

Each unit comes with great safety features like hand railings, defibrillators, first aid supplies, and lighted floorboards. It also has good roofing made by experts that provide roofing in Welcome, NC or roofing in Manasquan, NJ. For additional guidance, you can consult experts like these roofing services in Shelby Township, MI.

The interior also contains high-tech medical equipment, like hand railings, a video camera system so you could see what’s going on inside—i.e., if your parent needs help—and a soft floor to protect the person if they fall.

A basic MEDCottage is 12 x 24 feet, has vinyl siding, and can accommodate folks in wheelchairs with its double French doors.

Granny Pods have gotten mixed reviews, with some noting that the dwellings could cause problems with neighbors or be seen as putting an aging parent “in storage,” but others find that it’s a practical luxury to have mom close by in a cozy cottage.
