Poachers killed a mother for her horn and left behind her 3-month-old rhino baby, who was found, crying near his mother corp. Hoedspruit Endangered Species Centre, acted immediately and rescued the baby. The small baby was named Gertjie. He has been accommodating with his new life and family. He is sleeping with some staff and having bath by others.
He will be living with the HESC until he can be living on his own, then he will be reintroduced to wildlife reserve.
Since he is afraid and cannot sleep alone, Gertjie lies with Adine Rhoode.
Now Gertjie weighs 299 pounds.
He is grateful and he likes the care he is receiving from his new family.
