It makes me so angry when I hear about a baby abandoned by its own parent and left to die.. The least thing those who are incapable to rise a child is to take it to an orphanage or center help.. There are people who are ready to take care of the baby, but there are still those out there who can’t be bothered to take that step.
This is the same thing that happened to one baby whose biological mother abandoned her in a dumpster in Hoffman Estates, Illinois. Thankfully, she was saved by a man who rushed her to a hospital.
However, this wasn’t the end for this amazing story. Twenty later, the adopted girl made a discovery that sent chills down her spine.
This started on one evening in October 1995, Gerald Rocky Hyatt who was a construction worker went to throw some trash into a dumpster when he suddenly heard a faint whimpering sound. At first, he thought it’s a cat’s sound, but he was still confused, so he dug deeper into the garbage until he found a bag with something moving inside of it.. He was sure then that it certainly wasn’t a cat
He gently lifted the double-knotted bag then he hurried to the closest hospital and informed the doctors that there’s probably a baby inside. Indeed, one of the nurses, Carl Szafranski, checked the bag and was shocked to find a child in it.
The baby was named Mary Grace, or “Blessed Mary”. Shortly after, her birth mother was found and awaiting trial in prison. Her birth father had no idea that he had a child until he was called to court as well.
After that, Mary Grace was adopted by Sandi Hill and her husband, they renamed her Morgan Hill. Morgan grew up loved and happy with her foster parents. She knew she was an adopted daughter but she hadn’t a single idea how her life began and the circumstances surrounding her adoption.
Sandi waited for Morgan until she’s grown enough to handle the sad truth. After Morgan graduated from high school, Sandi told her everything, she even showed her a binder full of newspaper clippings reporting the incident that she kept all those years for this moment.
After knowing the truth.. Morgan kept searching for her savior, Gerald, for two long years. When she finally met him on April 16, 2016, it was an extremely emotional moment. Morgan broke down in tears.
Gerald, now 66, gave Morgan two special items upon meeting the 20-year-old: the pin that he was given to reward his heroism, and a photo of him with baby Morgan, her adoptive parents, and the nurse who first named her.
“I could not thank him enough,” Morgan said in an interview. “He gave me a chance to live a second life. Because if he didn’t find me, I would not be here to help others and show soon-to-be mothers that there are so many options out there and you don’t have to throw your baby away.”
I can’t believe how they finally met after 20 long years.. This is absolutely amazing!! The good news is Morgan will be able to stay in touch with her guardian angel who changed her life in one simple gesture.
Even though, it’s hard for her to accept that her own parents dumped her, but she is lucky that good people took her and accept her as their own daughter.
