Hurricane Irma is on a warpath, and and it’s not over yet. So far, Hurricane Irma has destroyed almost all of Antigua, Barbuda, Anguilla, St. Marten, The U.S. Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, Haiti, Turks and Caicos, the Bahamas and Cuba. The consequences of this monstrous disaster are devastating, it’s not done yet.
Millions of people are now left stranded and homeless with no access to water, electricity or phone service, 10 people have been announced dead. The Bahamas and Cuba are expecting a similarly devastating effect, as is the State of Florida, which mandatory evacuations have already been ordered .
Irma, dubbed the most powerful Atlantic storm in a decade, has sustained winds of 155 mph, which are strong enough to bring down power poles, uproot trees and even rip the roof off of homes. Barrier islands and coastal communities across Florida are under mandatory evacuation orders. According to ABC News, over 1.2 million Florida residents have been ordered to evacuate.
Hurricane Irma should be taken very seriously. Photos of the path of destruction in her wake have been circling social media, detailing just how powerful and dangerous she is.
