Jolie Mejía and family set out for the seaside community near their home in Peru, Punta Negra, where they witnessed something bittersweet. They sat down on the beach and noticed a dog staring out to sea as if he were looking for something.
The dog was clean and wearing a collar and seemed to be cared for. They petted him as he kept his eyes fixed on the horizon. That’s when a local man walked by and they decided to ask for any information on the dog…
He explained that everyone in the area knows and loves the dog and that his owner, a fisherman, had passed away about a year ago. The dog comes to the beach daily and waits for the friend who will never return.
As sad as that is, Vaguito is well cared for and has many friends including a local woman who has taken it upon herself to feed and house the pooch. The Mejía family left later that day with a story of love and loyalty that filled their hearts. <3
