Cynthia Bennett and her boyfriend are enthusiastic hikers who enjoy going to trips together. In 2014, the couple adopted their first pet, Henry. Before meeting Henry, the couple made their choice to adopt a golden retriever mix, but they spot Henry at an adoption event and they instantly fell in love with him. He was only 14 weeks old at that time but already five times bigger than other puppies of his age. When Bennett went into his pen, he just curled up into her lap, went belly up and flipped his head over her arm, that’s when she knew he was the one.
“I think we only had him for three days when we took him on our first hike,” Bennett told The Dodo. “He found the steepest, tallest rock around, and he ran up to the top of it to look over the edge.” That’s why they started calling him their “little mountain goat.”
Then the couple decided to add another pet to their family, but this time it’s going to be a rescue kitten. The couple spent 5 entire months searching the shelters until they finally found a Siamese kitten mix named Baloo. The new member of this sweet family got introduced to his dog friend, Henry, and they just got perfectly along – they play and snuggle with each other most of the time.
Not too long after, they started taking Baloo on their trips. “I get a lot of questions about how we got him used to it. But he really loves it. He really wants to go outside,” Bennett said. “If I touch Henry’s leash, [Baloo] will start screaming at the door.”
