If you are feeling a bit depressed, lonely, or ready to forgive up on your dreams, the following is meant for you.
It’s time to realize that you are a unique, beautiful, and talented person who deserves to live a life that is filled with love for yourself, as well as those around you. It’s time to give your self-esteem a much needed boost using the following tips.
1. Follow your passions and do what makes you truly happy.
In life, when we feel passionate about something, we are in our most creative and happiest state. When we take action and follow our passions, we can exceed our expectations. Following your passion and feeling it in both your mind and heart assures you are on the right path. It may not be easy, but it’s definitely worth it.
2. Make your day by looking for something special.
“I think it’s important to find the little things in everyday life that make you happy.” Paula Cole.
Recognize the things that make your day special, whether that’s thanking God or someone verbally. Be thankful for everything positive that has happened in your life and allow it to feel your spirit and provide your body with nourishing love and energy.
3. Smile more every day.
Smiling is crucial for happiness and enhanced self-esteem. Studies have found that smiling, even if you have to force it, has plenty of benefits, including reducing stress and lifting your mood. As you smile more and empower yourself, you’ll realize that you are shining a light for others to follow.
4. Compliment yourself.
In order to love others, you have to love yourself first. To do that, you have to give yourself the self-love you deserve. One of the best ways to do this is through a practice taught by Louise Hay. Known as “mirror work”, walk up to yourself in the mirror and give yourself a compliment. Anything from “Your hair looks amazing today” to “I love how honest and unique you are.”
5. Stop comparing yourself to others.
“When you are content to be simply yourself and don’t compare or compete, everybody will respect you.”Lao Tzu
It’s time to realize your self-worth and recognize that you are a truly unique part of the Universe. Comparing yourself to others only causes you to undervalue who you actually are.
6. Be kind to yourself.
Understand that although you can’t change where you are right this minute, you can change your perspective of it. Using positive energy, you can get yourself to a happier place in the future. Also, be kind to others. Enter into every situation with the goal of using compassion and kindness to improve someone else’s day and you will see that this positive energy comes right back to you.
7. Reach out for the support of others.
Having positive relationships and a strong support network will ensure that you have healthy channels of communication open that will assist you in holding yourself accountable for your own well-being and health. This will also allow you to have caring people you can count on if your life takes a negative turn.
8. Focus on how far you’ve come and not how much farther you have to go.
To accomplish anything, you have to break it down into smaller pieces. It’s the pieces that you have already accomplished that you should focus on. Know that the finish line is there waiting for you, so take a deep breath and keep working toward it.
9. Follow a healthy diet with organic, whole foods.
From improved physical and emotional health to a better working digestive system, there are too many benefits to list regarding eating healthy food. There simply are no negatives.
10. Remain active.
If you want to stay on top of your game, you have to stay active. Mental, physical, and spiritual activity is crucial to keep your life vibrant and exciting. From exercise to yoga, meditation, reading, and using self development apps, there are plenty of ways to stay active.
